The February tournament was a three round Quad with an attendance of twenty six players. After playing on the first floor of the hotel last month, we returned to the eighth floor lounge. This room suits us very well. With a maximum capacity of thirty six players, it gives us some room to grow. As usual, the hotel opened up a guest room down the hall to serve as our rest room and skittles room. There were six sections in this tournament. The top quad had a wide range of strength, from Jim Marshall (2116) to Waler Alberts (1717) with Ray Satterlee (1974) and Phil Jarrette (1800) filling in the middle. This Quad was won by Ray Satterlee at two and a half points, with Jim Marshall taking second half a point behind. The second quad had Ken Marshall (1594), newcomer Rick Jaconette (1585), Dennis Seibel (1523) amd Chuck Giertz (1511) competing against each other. First and second place were shared by Chuck and Rick at two points each. The third quad contained Bob Cunningham (1490), new player Dimitrio Kosteris (1451), Todd Scarlett (1379), and Gary Wang (1337). Dimitrio Kosteris won first with a perfect three point score and Gary Wang took second with two wins, losing only to Dimitrio. The fourth quad was made up of John Schaeffer (1331), newcomer Dennis Doyle (1286), Bob Hayes (1267), and Don Reyes (1218). Dennis, Don and John all tied for first thru third at two points each. The fifth quad comprised Jeremy Crouse (1178), newcomer Chris Norback (1173), Cliff Adams (1155) and Kelsey Robin (unrated). Regrettably, Chris had to withdraw in the last round, but we hope to see him again in future tournaments. Jeremy Crouse took first place with a perfect score, and Cliff Adams came in second one point behind. The last quad had six players, Bill Hayes (1027), Steve Strathman (981), Ben Ryan (863), David Hullinger (586), Joe Robin (unrated), and in his first appearance at a McHenry Area event, Michael Barshai (unrated). Michael took first place with three wins and Ben Ryan took second with two. The games are now available for display, and this page will be updated as analysis is added.
