1. e4 e6 2. d4 d5 3. exd5 exd5 4. Nf3 c5 5. Bb5+ Too passive. White should either be developing his pieces or saddle Black with an isolated d pawn.
5... Bd7 6. Bxd7+ Nxd7 7. c3 Ngf6 8. O-O Be7 9. Bg5 O-O 10. Re1 h6 11. Bh4 Re8 12. Nbd2 Ne4 13. Bxe7 White can win a pawn with 13. Nxe4 Bxh4 14. Nxc5 Rxe1+ 15. Qxe1 Nxc5 16. dxc5 Other lines play similarly. Although White's pawns structure will not be ideal, he will have an extra one, and that's worthwhile.
13... Rxe7 14. Nxe4 Rxe4 15. dxc5 Nxc5 16. Qc2 a5 17. Rad1 Rxe1+ 18. Rxe1 Ne6 19. Qf5 d4 20. Rd1 Qb6 21. Ne5 Ng5? Allowing White too much pressure. Preferable is 21... Qc7 Although it gives up Black's chance for queenside counterplay, the action now is on the vulnerable kingside.
22. h4 g6 23. Qf4 Qxb2 24. hxg5 Qxa2 25. Qxd4? A bad move that almost gives away White's very strong advantage. The threat of Qxf7+ followed by Nxg6# ties down the Black Queen completely. White should have continued with either
25. c4 Rf8 26. gxh6 Qe2 27. Rxd4 f6 28. Nxg6 Qe1+ 29. Kh2 Qe8 30. Nxf8
or
25. gxh6 Qe6 26. Nd7! and the knight is untouchable since the White Quen cannot be allowed to penetrate through f6. 26... Kh7 27. Nf6+ Kh8 28. Qxd4 with mate threats on d8 and g7.
25... hxg5 26. Ng4 b5 27. Nh6+ Kh7 28. Nxf7? This may have been a simple blunder, or part of a misguided plan.
28... Qxf7 Here the score ends. Despite the game being fairly even, White won the game. Perhaps Black lost on time. Or possibly, it looks as if White has a quickly winning move in 29. Rd3, and that move may have been played and precipitated Black's resignation. There's no way to tell since it wasn't recorded. However, Black has a tenable defense in 29... g4 30. Qxg4 Kg8 31. Rd7 Qf6 32. Qh3 Re8 33. Qh7+ Kf8 with no good way to press the attack further. A draw is the expected result from here, as neither side can make progress.
