Rick Jaconette - Vishaal Meduri [D36]

McHenry Area Chess 2005 Championship/Elgin (2) 2005

1. d4 d5 2. c4 e6 3. Nc3 Nf6 4. cxd5 exd5 5. Bg5 Be7 6. e3 O-O 7. Qc2 Nc6 The knight doesn't belong here in the exchange QGD. 8. a3 Qd7 9. h3 Qf5 10. Qxf5 Bxf5 11. Bxf6 Bxf6 12. Nxd5 The tactical sequence wins a pawn for White. It looks like White is behind in development, but his one piece is more active than all three combined for Black! Plus, the bishop and knight will come into the game soon enough, and the king is safe enough where he stands. 12... Rac8 13. Nf3 Rfe8 14. Bb5 a6 15. Bxc6 bxc6 16. Nxf6+ gxf6 17. Rc1 Once again a precise sequence for White, who is now winning due to Black's awful pawn structure. Black's isolated pawns are like magnets for White's rooks. 17... Be4 18. Nd2 Bd5 19. O-O Rb8 20. b4 Ra8 21. Rc5 Kh8 22. f3 f5 23. e4 Be6 24. Rxc6 Rg8 25. Kh2 Rad8 26. d5 Rge8 I'm not sure why the bishop doesn't move, but maybe the game score was inaccurate. 27. Rfc1 Rd7 28. Nc4 Bxd5 29. exd5 Rxd5 30. Rxc7 Re2 31. Rxf7 Rd3 32. Nd6 Kg8 33. Rc8+ Re8 34. Rxe8# 1-0
