Joining the USCF USCF Membership is a requirement for playing in our tournaments, or in any rated tournament hosted by any other group. Besides the right to play in rated tournaments, USCF membership also comes with a subscription to Chess Life magazine, and a discount for items purchased from the USCF store. Families can save money by only receiving the magazine on one membership, and selecting the economy membership for everyone else. There are several categories of membership, so pick the one that's right for you at the lowest cost. The main categories are regular adult at $49* per year, Senior (65 or older) at $36, Youth (under 20) at $25, Scholastic (under 15) at $19, additional family adult without a subscription at $23, and economy scholastic (no subscription) at $13. There are discounts for two or three year memberships, and you can become a member for life with a single lump sum payment of $1000, or $500 if already a senior. There are other categories for special situations like blindness or prison, so see the USCF membership page fpr the most complete information. Joining is easy. You can join the UCSF through us, and receive our club discount, which is $4 on adult memberships and $2 for youths. You can do this at any of our casual meetings at Borders, or at our tournament playing site. If joining at our tournaments, please come a bit earlier to allow time for this. Or you can join through the USCF directly. Joining online gives you a $2 discount, as opposed to joining by phone or mail. Currently, as of March '05, the USCF is running a special promotion for new and past members who let their membership expire. This lets adult members sign up for $36, and is the cheapest way for people to join the USCF for the first time. To sign up, go to USCF special promotion. Please let us know if this promotion has expired so we can remove the link.
*Note that prices are subject to change by the USCF.

We have been forced to remove the automatic contact form because of an excess of spam, hundreds of emails per day. To prevent this, we are providing a link that will bring up an email form, with our address spoofed by an X in front of our real email address. Simply remove this X to create our real email address, then send it to us. We apologize for the extra effort required, but that's life in the internet age.
