Swiss events

Note: This page is being modified. We will be offering four trophy tournaments per year, two Quad and two Swiss events, one of which will be our annual Championship. No prize money in given out. An exact schedule of when we plan this trophy events will be forthcoming. Also, the information below will have to be adjusted to provide estimates of prize money in event a Swiss is divided into two sections. This will be done in the near future. Prize funds for our Swiss tournaments are based on attendance, except for our annual Championship where we award titles and trophies, and our September event. The larger the tournament, the larger the prizes, and the more categories we can award them in.  We try to return two-thirds or more of the entry fees in prizes, allowing for our overhead of room rental, ratings fees and TLA costs.   These figures presume our standard $10 entrance fee.

The following table gives the allocation of prize money and prize categories for tournaments of various sizes. As long as we have at least as many players as the table specifies, we will give out the prize money indicated.  For intermediate number of players, the prize fund may be adjusted at the discretion of the TD.  For very small tournaments, we accept the possibility of losing money on the event. Note that unrated players are not eligible for the Upset Win or Lowest class prize, but may win an upper class prize for tournaments with 35 or more players. For larger tournaments, we increase the upset win prize if the ratings difference is 400 points or higher. Upset draws are not considered.
